Armchair Wine Tour:

Italian

Renaissance

with Ned Swain

Wednesday, February 8th | 5:30 – 7:00pm

Water's Edge Wines, Stonington

Join Ned as he highlights a new generation of winemakers whose efforts reflect the echoes of many centuries of accumulated experience. With discussion and tasting, you'll learn why this is one of the most exciting old world regions right now.

For generations, most of Italian wine making focused on quantity at the expense of quality. In the 1980s and 90s some producers gained international acclaim, but much of the wine was made with imported ideas and styles from California and France. Finally, during the past decade Italian wine makers have emerged who are preserving their old traditions and local grapes but working at an extremely high quality level. Ned will be highlighting a new generation of winemakers whose efforts reflect the echoes of many centuries of accumulated experience.
