Edible Island is seeking a Programs Associate to actively participate in the implementation of a range of Edible Island’s educational programs, while strengthening its relations to the community, and providing general operational and administrative support. Candidates should have experience working in or studying culinary arts, food systems, agriculture, public health, or education and enjoy working with youth. Position is seasonal (April-October) and part time (20-30 hours/week).

Basic Job Responsibilities

 

Educational Programs:

  • Provide support for and instruct in existing educational programs (DIS High School Culinary Course, DIS Elementary School Cooking Classes, Culinary Workshops for Adult Cooks, Magic Food Bus, and Island Pantry Sampling).

  • Work under the guidance of the Executive Director and Education Director to initiate and develop new programs.

  • Assist with recruitment and oversight of volunteers who will share the organization’s goals and its vision, while organizing and strengthening their participation in Edible Island events and educational activities.

 

Organizational Development:

  • Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals and represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public

 

Provide a wide range of general support activities to the organization, as necessary.

 

The Programs Associate is a part time, seasonal position. Position is approximately 20 hours per week April-June 15 and September 4-October 27 and is approximately 30 hours per week June 19-September 1.
