GOALS • Create a high level cooking school which will provide real life training and expanded options for future jobs to students aspiring to culinary excellence. • Partner with the Deer Isle - Stonington schools in projects based on the real pleasures of growing, cooking and eating healthy, natural local products, both in school and after school. • Increase local awareness of the unique culinary resources in our own backyard, and demonstrate how to cook and eat them. • Work with local farmers, fishermen and non-profits to support sustainable food and ecological practices on the island. • Support the evolution of the island as a culinary destination • Sponsor special events, conferences, excursions and community dinners using the best of every season local product from land and sea. • Encourage young people to appreciate, cook and share the pleasures of local healthy food with others. • Sponsor scholarships for young people interested in a future in the culinary arts integrated with principles of sustainability. • Sponsor workshops and exhibitions. |
